Preparing Teachers to Prevent Adolescent
Dating Violence

For this project, we partnered with PREVNet and Shift: The Project to End Domestic Violence to prepare pre-service teachers to prevent adolescent dating violence once they are in the classroom. First, we evaluated the inclusion of dating violence prevention content in a mandatory comprehensive school health course. We also explored how including this content impacts teachers’ dating violence knowledge, beliefs, and prevention confidence. We also evaluated a symposium series for pre-service teachers, which took a social justice and children’s rights approach to understanding dating violence prevention.
